JOIN ST. JAMES’ AT ITS CHRISTIAN FORMATION hour (9:15 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.) on October 31st and November 7th to learn about the world’s “Most Important Teacher” and how we who are Christian are called to follow the same. This two-week presentation will be led by former Philadelphia schools educator and local resident Ron Barnes. Ron is a Christian with Baptist roots and a zealous passion for the formation of all peoples, perhaps most especially youth. He is also interested in prison ministry and ecumenism.

His presentation, “The Paradox of Identity” will have participants answering the question of what and who is the self, and how we identify with the Most Important Teacher as we struggle with the paradox of the person of Jesus Christ. This talk is not only an apologetic but will demonstrate how Christians can fit into a larger goal of Christian educators and is a foundational element of discipleship and evangelism. Come and Seehow Socrates, Kierkegaard, Frege, and Russell all have relevancy in our lives as the presenter touches upon humanity’s desire to answer existential questions, but who can enter into the same in casual, engaging conversation!  The following six topical handouts will be presented to all participants over the two-week gathering:

SUNDAY, October 31st – “Is This Good Advice: Be “Your Self?” and “How to be Your True Self”“The Paradox of the Universal Teacher: Is the Universal Teacher a student of himself?” and “The Russell Paradox”

SUNDAY, November 7th – “The Paradox of One’s Identity” and “The Goal of Education”
