NATURE WALL ART CRAFT

“He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.” – Acts 14:17

“He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season, and it’s leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.” Psalm 1:3

Summer is a wonderful time to get out and enjoy all God’s amazing creations, from the bright sunshine to the beautiful flowers, the soft grass and the towering trees. Whether you’re watching squirrels and chipmunks busy at work, jumping across boulders by a stream or just searching for patterns and figures in the passing clouds, there’s always time to appreciate this amazing world God has made for us. Kids can think about the many ways everything works together in harmony in nature. Bees use the flowers to make food, trees provide shade and food for animals. Rain feeds the plants and streams. What are ways we can work with nature to help keep the world beautiful? In this craft we’ll borrow a little from nature to bring some of the beauty indoors!

Materials:

  • Sticks (found in the woods or your yard from fallen tree branches)
  • Yarn or ribbon
  • Craft paint or acrylic paint
  • Paint brush
  • Twine/string Scissors

Directions:

First, gather sticks! You can find whatever “sticks” out to you, whether it has smooth bark or interesting knots! Have an adult help you wash off the sticks outside and let them dry in the sun.

Pick your favorite stick and get started. Lay out some newspaper or brown paper bags to cover your workspace and paint your stick in your favorite color or the favorite color of someone you love. Allow paint to dry completely.

Tie yarn or ribbon in slip knots across your stick. Adjust how close or far apart you would like your material to hang. You can use all one color or multiple colors.

Note: If your material is thick enough, like ribbons or thick yarn, you can also glue rhinestones, buttons or seashells to your pieces!

Use scissors to trim the ends in any pattern or angle that you like and tie a piece of twine to each side so that you can hang your wall art!
